Dative personal pronoun still doesn't make it any clearer. That just tells you that you can ask "Who is he buying a car for?" ands than it still can be "dir (you), mir (me), sich (for himself), euch (for you (plural)), ihnen (for them), Ihnen (for you (respected single person), denen (for them (less respected plural), ihr (female single person)"
