Deutsche Welle offer free interactive German lessons on their website & have lots of other information and resources as well.

I really wanted Rosetta Stone too but my parents refused.

So I got this program called 'Speak in a Week" and i teach myself off of that. I also bought the German textbook from my school even though I take Spanish.

Thats what I would suggest. I was really dedicated and now speak really week (=

Good Luck!

Buy a vocabulary book and a grammar book, and watch something like the German news at www.tagesschau.de on the internet. But I think you should first learn your Spanish to some extent, and THEN start with German. Having two genders of nouns (which you all must learn by heart, as there's really no logic in them) is enough for the start; in German you will have to learn three, and endless rules about flexing nouns and verbs.

I really think it a good idea would be to watch the German news first, just to get a feeling of how the language sounds, so you'll later have a feeling of what SOUNDS correct. Also try www.daserste.de; that's German public TV. Click Interaktiv / Mediathek / Sendungen A-Z and watch some broadcasts.

German pop music may also be helpful, but the singers rather have a, say: creative use of grammar. I learned English by music, but it might not be so easy with German. Modern German is not exactly a language you can write good song lyrics in.

How about taking a class at your local community college or private language school? How about going on an exchange?

I can help you a bit by talking on skype, if that's what you want and need.
You would have the opportunity to talk a native German and in return I would have the opportunity to have a conversation with a native English.
