Hi,
the answer is very easy:
Oktoberfest always ends in the first weekend of October and takes two days. So it always starts around mid September (in 2006 on the 16th)
Exept if the 3rd of Ocotber (national holiday) is on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Then it will last longer than two weeks. |

On Saturday, September 16th, the Schottenhamel tent is the place to be, if you want to catch the official opening ceremonies. At noontime, 12pm, the lord mayor of Munich will have the honor of tapping the first keg of Oktoberfest beer. Once the barrel has been tapped, all visitors will then be allowed to quench their thirst. It pays to arrive early in order to experience the festivities up close and personal and it’s quite common for visitors to come around 9am to secure good seats. The festival will last until October 3, 2006. - OOOPS - Sorry - that's for this year. 22/09 to 07/10 are the dates for 2007. |

The answer is not as obvious as October. The real Oktoberfest is in February, This is how the German population fools all tourist. See you in February 2007. |
