The Hofbrauhaus is more of a place to drink beer. I would not consider it a nightclub. Across the street from the HBH is the Hard Rock Cafe. There are soooooooo many night clubs in Munich that it is hard to say which one is the BEST.. I guess it all depends on what music you like and what beer you want to drink. Also if you want to dance or just drink. There is a really BIG night club near the Munich International Airport that is popular, but that is on the outskirts of Munich. |

I confirm, it very much depends on your "kind of crowd", and some areas are more popular than others.
East of the city center:
"Kultfabrik" and "Optimolwerke", former industrial buildings now housing a number of bars and clubs, more for the "below 25" crowd.
West of the city center:
Along "Landsberger Strasse" for example, the "mega-club" 4004, in that area, the "New Backstage" (alternative), or "Feierwerk" in Hansastr.
North of the city center:
For example, the old military barracks north of Domagkstrasse, and of course, Schwabing with its never-ending popularity.
South of the city center:
More lounges and bars for the 30+ in a mixed, gay-friendly community.
And finally, the city center itself:
Some places only exist for a few weeks, others luckily a bit longer! "Erste Liga", "Atomic Cafe", "P1", "Soul City", "Monofaktur", "Registratur" etc.pp.
Some places have occasional events, e.g. "Muffathalle" and "Reithalle".
Watch out for the local flyers and/or "In Muenchen", a bi-weekly "What's On" guide for the city (free). |

used to live in munich and used to always go clubbing in kunstparkost which is a massive disused industrial estate near the ostbahnhof (east train station) full of bars and clubs. milchbar was always my favourite. apparently there's also a pacha now which is pretty cool and in the centre of town. if you head up towards schwabing (universitaet on the metro) this is the student area and there's heaps of funky restos and bars there. have a fab time!! |
