Where do I buy a Euro Pass and for how much? |
I plan to be travelling to Europe (especially Germany) this December and am looking into exceedingly cheap ways to travel about. I am looking into a Euro pass because I only plan to go to two places in Germany (2 hours apart) and MAYBE Paris, France or England for a day or two. |

If you are only traveling between 2 places in Germany, I would not get a railpass, especially from raileurope or eurail.com. You will be paying more than you have to!
You can use the länder ticket to travel cheaply during the week after 09:00 or weekend within any given state in Germany. Check the link in the answer of the first post. Or buy point-to-point 2nd class tickets from Die Bahn.

If you are traveling from a distant part of Germany to Paris or England, a discount European airline may be of use to you - www.whichbudget.com. However, these airlines have strict baggage limits and will charge you if you go over the wieght limit!!!. e.g., Ryan air checked baggage limit is 15kg and 10kg for carryon. Read the specific airlines FAQ for more info. |

I've never used it, but have heard many great things about the EurRail Pass. Here's a link to the US site for them: |

Are you talking about euro pass for trains or "Euro 26" ID ?
I am from Europe and if you are going to travel mainly in Germany, I would look into buying something called: Wochenede ticket. It used to cost a few german marks (35) and 5 people could travel for 48 hours during weekend anywhere in Germany.
as you know german borders with Austria,Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland - so basically this ticket will get you to the all those borders with no hussle. |

Look I have traveled Europe once on a rail pass. I will help you find the best deal. Travelocity has the cheapest rail passes, even cheaper then rail europe. Now you said you wanted to travel to only two places in Germany, you should get the 4 day rail pass, if you are an "adult" (26 years or older, you pay 132.00 US dollars, if you are a "child" (25 or less) then the price is 100.00 Dollars US. That should get you four trips, that can last all day. This is good if you are going from one end of the country to the other. If you plan to just stop at one place, say Hamburg, then stay for 1 week, and go then to say Berlin, I would just buy the one way ticket there. When/ if you want to come back or go to Paris, or London (both are crazy expensive, especially london!!) Then just buy the round trip tickets at the station. That is the cheapest you will find. Czech Repulic is way better Prague, plus its a cheap fare from germany.
Get this, if you buy a ticket to the next stop, then go to the bathroom when the ticket guy comes through, you can continue on to your destination and you paid less. DO NOT attempt to cross country borders this way, they will get really mad. |
