Where do the German people originate from? Were they Prussian? Where did they migrate from?

Serious answers please. Thank you.

I have to disagree with the first post.

First have a look at the links, that should clear up some questions.

Second:
Prussia was WAY latter the the settlements of the German.
The Germans where half invaded by Romans but only half (Rhein border) and that formed the language as a mixture of Germanic and Latin grammatic. Modern German is also influenced by french (Napoleon) and Swedish (100 Year war).

To get further please click yourself though Wikipedia... :)

Prussia was a German state - named after a province that is now part of Russia. The Kingdom of Prussia was finally founded in 1701 - there are many other German states including Hamburg and Bavaria.

Zocktan
The German people of today originate from the germanic tribes, that have settled in the regions, that are now Germany.

Prussia was where Germany is now. As far as I know, the germanic hordes of barbarians migrated south and west from Russia and the Slavic states. The language is certainly different in structure and grammar than Latin (spoken in ancient rome and greeze) or Arabic (spoken in ancient and modern Iraq, Saudi Arabia) which implies that they were far removed from the region when language developed.
