their are a lot of places where you can see the remainings of the Romans.
For example: Trier is a beautiful city with an Colloseum and an old gate, the porta nigra. I liked it very much.

It´s the oldest city of germany.
Another city i can remember is Xanten, where you can find an roman museum.

There are a lot around the river mosel and saar.
A route with more then 100 spots is called "Strasse der Römer". Unfortunately i cannot find any english references.
Maybe this one can give you an impression:

It is true that many fossils were found in Germany. Two examles:

many Germans think about the education level of certain countries.

Big Weenie knows, just get a microscope and tweezers and use your thumb in the bum and you will be able to grasp it long enough to see maybe something. He loves when people see that.

You probably already know about the Limes. Quite a number of the oldest cities in Germany are along the Rhine and most of them were founded by the Romans as forts along the Limes. Roman antiques are plenty in these cities, most noteably are Cologne and Trier but there are many many others.
I really like Cologne, the Roman-German museum is quite a sight. (Plus Cologne is easy to get to from the UK.)
Germany also has some decent sites for fossils, here is a list:
