Hi...

You can sample a whole range of Palatinate specialities in Mannheim, as well as typical Badensian and Swabian dishes. You'll also find an excellent choice of top restaurants serving international cuisine. Alternatively, you can sit and watch the world go by at one of the city's many pavement cafés or enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the beer gardens in the summer.

Places to try....

Da Gianni
Enjoy a range of fine and inspired Italian cuisine in an elegant atmosphere. Indulge your tastebuds with seasonal specialities and fresh produce in a variety of creative dishes. Game fish is a particular speciality of the house. The mouth-watering menu is accompanied by a selection of exquisite wines.

Doblers Restaurant L'Epi d'Or
You'll recognise the L'Epi d'Or by its timber frames and bull's-eye window panes - a restaurant that harks back to the time when Mannheim was renowned for its Badensian and Alsatian hospitality. First-rate dining and a range of tempting culinary delights in a relaxed atmosphere.

Kopenhagen
The Kopenhagen is the place for seafood and fish aficionados to be seen. The menu features a range of dishes including plaice, lobster, pike and sea bass - everything is freshly prepared, and either served with a traditional cream sauce or drizzled with the finest olive oil Mediterranean-style.

Hello,

I would have to say after living in Mannheim for a long time, there are tons of good places to eat. Any little resturant downtown is great. I have yet to have a bad experiance. It just depends on what you want to eat and what your budget is.

Locals arent hard up and are very nice if you ask them what you are looking for when you are there. Most germans learn english (even if it is oxford english) young in school. So never hesitate to stop and ask!

Hope that helps you out a little.

There are some great restaurants right below the castle. As far as the kids, maybe take a boat ride.
