Baveria ( Bayern ) It is the most beautiful part of Germany. The second most beautiful, the Black Forest, is right next to Baveria. As to exactly what cities to go to depends on what you are interested to see. |

Hi. It all depends on how long you plan to visit and what your interests you. Assuming you are staying about a week or so, I'd reccommend 2 days in Berlin, 1 day in Cologne / Dusseldorf, 2 days in Munich. You can expand from there depending on your time constraints. Berlin is the capital and there's lots to see, especially new construction from when the wall came down (Potsdamer Platz / Sony Center) and all the museums (Museum Island). Munich is another side of Germany, in the south with a good share of excellent museums like the Deutsche Museeum (biggest science museum in the world) and the Olympic Park, not to mention the excellent parks. Cologne and Dusseldorf give you another sight of Germany. On the one hand, Cologne and its excellent cathedral are really amazing, while Dusseldorf and it's famous Altstadt is a fine example of a modern German City. Of course you can always visit Wurzburg, a fine example of a classic German city or Rothenbug ob der Tauber, an excellent medieval city with a wall all around, but also full of tourists. If you're into cars, Stuttgart is for you, with the Mercedes Benz and Porsche museums. There's also East Germany, Leipzig and Dresden, fine examples of East German cities and what about Hamburg, an excellent port city and its famous Reeperbahn (Red light district). I include a link to the official German tourism webpage. I hope this helps. |

Lübeck
It's a small city (not so small though: 213 000 citiziens). It's near Hambourg and Berlin, the capital of Germany. It was the "queen of the hanse". The Hanse was a organisation of the biggest trading cities in Europe around the 14th, 15th amd 16th centuries. It is also an UNESCO city. It is near the Baltic Sea. The city center is situated on an island and can be crossed in 20 min by foot. Lübeck is famous for its shopping. They are also loads of cafés, museums, cathedrals and inner court plazas.
ALSO:
Berlin, is must
Constanz, in southern Germany, on the bourder of Switzerland, very scenic
Goettingen, great university city with lots of pubs ;-)
Cologne, very hip and hot (culturaly)
P.S.: KOELN and KLON is same as Cologne. But in Englisch it is Cologne. |

Go off the beatin path. Go to small villages and towns some place where it is not 75% americans. but if you dont speak german or speak very little bring a dictionary of phrases. Berlin is a great place to go shopping for clothes and such but little shops are best for unique gifts. In Berlin i suggest you go to Ka De We I think that is how you spell it. It is a huge store kinda like Macys in the New York. |

HEIDELBERG!!! You got to check it out! Very romantic, yet a lot of history, the castle right there next to the river (Neckar).
Drive down the Bergstrasse B3. It takes you from Darmstadt to Heidelberg, you will see a lot of castles on those hills. Its just beautiful! |
