As Berlin is situated in the middle East of Germany it is logical that WestBerlin was located there as well, because it was nothing else as a part of Berlin as long as the Berlin Wall had existed.

Here is a link which shows a picture of the sections and East and West Berlin
http://cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=64948&rendTypeId=4

And Wikipedia has a lot of information about the Berlin Wall, the devided city, Berlin Wall and so on..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Wall

Here you can see the location of Berlin (West Berlin) in Germany

Yes, it's true. Before WWII, Berlin was the capital of Germany. After the war, Berlin was divided into 4 "sectors", one for each of the allies, to run until the Germans were able to run themselves. The communist part was walled off as a protest against the Allies, and Berlin became a "freedom" island in East (communist) Germany. We, allied troops, were allowed to travel to West Berlin during this time, but we were either on a troop train, or only allowed on one autobahn. It was an interesting time.

Berlin is located at the East side from Germany. At the middle of the city Berlin was the walls separated East/West Berlin and the whole East/West Germany.
You can look the map on go ogle....

Well if it weren't in East Germany you wouldn't need an airlift would you???

my goodness how soon we forget...at the end of WW II Berlin was divided between the allied (at that time) powers, the Russians got East. Even though it was deep in East Germany, concessions were made to allow access for the western powers (see "Berlin Airlift.")

Easy to find maps on line, just look for them.

And yes, as Berlin is in what was 'East Germany', than West Berlin was simply the Western part of that city.

Sanmigsean
My World, right on - but it was the allied part (west) that was actually walled off by the communists (ie: making W. Berlin an island in E. Germany).

cnn360coffeebubbles
Yes. East and West Germany were separated through the Berlin Wall.

Wall came down October 1900 and Germany became one.

how soon they forget... what our fathers fought and died for.....
