Where would an English speaker look for employment in Mainz or Wiesbaden, Germany?

I recently moved to Mainz Germany from Scotland UK, but i can only really speak basic or "ground level" Deutsch... I am searching every where for employment, but at present my spoken German hinders me, could anyone suggest a route for seeking out work i may be suitable for or for someone with English as their first language?

Thanks

I recently had done the very same move, only from the US to Mainz. I found it very difficult to find employment, but I was offered a job at Frankfurt International Airport and on Base jobs.

Since I wanted to attend Mainz University, I went to a local language school there in Mainz. They promise a 2 year program will reward you the ability to speak fluent German. Its 4 days a week 8am-12:30.

I highly recommend learning the language. Its very difficult but the little I knew helped me a long ways. If I were still in Mainz I would be more than glad to meet up with you. I regret leaving but only did so because my profession interest is not provided there (P.A.).

Don't forget one of the most important things about working in Germany, the visa. I had a student visa that only allowed me to work 18 or so hours a month... Without a German visa, you will find it even harder to get employed.

Once I complete the program here in the US I will be back over there working on the base as a civilian. My best advice is just to wake up everyday and attack the language, relentlessly.

If you have any questions feel free. Otherwise, good luck!

McDonald's.

I worked for half a year at UPS in Wiesbaden.I'm german, but I know they also accept native english speakers, since there were a number of ex-military working there. The job wasn't great, it was only part-time in the evening hours, but it wasn't bad either.Apart from that, as Ryan suggested, the Airport in Frankfurt offers a lot of jobs for untrained workers.
