Bodensee IS AWESOME. I have been there too. You can see it in Germany, travel to Austria and also go to Switzerland and see the lake from that side and go hiking in the Swiss Alps as I did with my german gf in the mid 90s.
other than that i think the unique architecture is a great attraction in Germany! |

I think the Bodensee, a big lake in southern Germany,
is a good tourist attraction.
If I get sufficient vacation time and have some money,
I might go to see this with my parents. |

That would depend on what you're interested in. Personally I think that the atmoshphere of each city provides great tourist attractions up and down the streets. If you were just to go to one city to get the real feeling of German history I would go to a smaller one in Bavaria. I love Nuremburg, just north of Munich. If you're interested in the castles go to Neuschwanstein castle (Cinderella castle.) Unless you want to see bigger comtemporary and very much americanized cities I would visit Southern Germany, or Bavaria. You can also see Dachau concentration camp (2nd largest one) and the Black Forest (where the cuckoo clock was born.) The Rick Steves website has some really good ideas for places too. |

About what sidsid said: Prague is in the chech republic, not Germany.
Other than that: What are your interests? If you are interested in history, castles and so on, you will definitely want to go to southern Bavaria, since there are all the famous castles (Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, ...) and a couple of other interesting things, like the "Deutsche Museum" in Munich, which is so big, you might have to spend two days in there to see it all. Munich also has other nice things to see, like the "Marienkirche" or the famous Rathaus, the Nymphenburger Schloss or the Residenz.
Berlin also has a lot of History to offer (the Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, the Egytian Museum, the German historic Museum, the Pergamon Museum,... ). However, if you're not the "Museum"-type, you might want to go and just walk through towns that are kind of "medival" in their looks, like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, or Regensburg. It might also be interesting for you to go to towns like Dresden, or go see the "Wartburg", where Luther lived for a time. I would suggest you think about how much time you have in Germany, and how you will get around Germany (train? rent a car?). How long will you want to drive everyday, and do you want to realize where you have been and what you've seen when you're back home and look at the pictures or do you really want to be able to relax and enjoy your sourroundings, taking time to see small things that tourists on an organized tour might never even be told about?
Buy a good book on Germany (Lonely Planet books are usually very well researched), and check out some of the places mentioned here.
I'm sure you'll find something that will make your time here in Germany a very unique one.
Have fun! |

I like the Harz mountains with Quedlinburg. Weimar and Erfurt are also nice. If you are into art and history, Dresden and Berlin are worth checking out. |

I agree with Cindie in what she says about the cities and theyr own special atmosphere. If you want to see Bavaria and its castles, you shouldn't miss Nuremberg (Nürnberg) and Munich (München); if you like the big city atmosphere, go to Berlin (which I like very much). I have friends in the Cologne (Köln) region who say you shouldn't miss Cologne and the river Rhine. It depends what you're up to. For a stay in summer, I'd recommend the city of Regensburg (Ratisbon) in Bavaria and its surroundings; nice medieval city with some remnants from the Romans who founded it, and a cruise on the river Danube (Donau) down to Austria and back.
Don't travel around too much; the things you'll remember may be hidden in the small details, and in getting friends with the locals. I think my country's main attraction are its people and their different lifestyles in every region. If there's a village festival ("Volksfest"), wherever you are, make sure you join. It will be fun. |

"I think the Bodensee,"
Do not go to the Bodensee. It is now full of water and they are talking of closing it to visitors in order to pump it out.
The best bit of Germany is Prague. |
