Munich is such a wonderful place to visit and there are so many things to do there. You experience authentic German costumes and the beer halls with great music and beer. You can go to the Black Forest known for the cuckoo clocks and wood carvings. The open air shopping market is huge and a great place to try out different cheeses and salami (Wurst) The food there is wonderful especially the Weiner Schnitzel,Sweine Haxen and Brat Wurst. The town is great for shopping and the clock tower with the dancing cuckoo is amazing. Most of the shop owners and restuarants staff speak English. They love practicing on you. Learn to say " please" (Bitta)and "thank-you" (Danka) and "greetings" (Grews Gott) . I have visited many places and lived in Germany for 3 years. It really depends on what your interests are. Check this web site out for great lodging and descriptions of tourists sites and information of what to see in each town. Get yourself a good map and comfortable shoes.

There are castles all over the place if that is of interest. Alot of people love Cologne (Koln) because of the Cathedral and composers museums.
If you want cheap shopping cross over the border into the Netherlands. |

Definately Berlin. I was travelling in the summer and visited Berlin for 4 days... I had a great time and saw plenty tourist attractions, but still had a lot of things that I could have visited. Which is why I am going back in february! There are still large areas of the city undergoing construction, though I found Berlin an interesting juxtaposition of old and new. |

This link will give you all sorts of ideas. Railbookers Newsletter" <bounce@newsletter.railbookers.com. I'd recommend Munich, but it is a little far to go. I think that Cologne is a lovely place for a short break, but Berlin seems to beat everywhere else for sheer variety and interest and I am looking forward to going there myself. I can't think how I've held out for so long! Definitely on my list! |

it really depends on when you want to go there and what your interests are.
Munich is great, Berlin is very big, noisy, but one should have visited it at least once.
If you like wine and history the mosel-sourrounding is great, maybe trier...
i like hamburg and bremen as well. It really depends what you love to do..

Munich. Not only will you be in a beautiful city, you will only be an hour and a half from Salzburg in Austria. The food is divine, the city wonderful, clean, and friendly. They don't consider themselves to be Germans so much as Bavarians, and Bavaria is wonderful. History lovers will adore the place, and beer fanatics too! |

Either Berlin or Munich. Berlin obviously has more history....but it is rather like a building site at the moment and probably will be for some years. Munich is a beautiful city, lots to do and believe it or not the Germans there don't appear to be all that boring there!! That is a novelty that is surely worth experiencing. And if you like drinking, Munich is simply the best, the beer halls are something you have to experience to believe! You are also an hour away from the Alps should you fancy some truly beautiful scenery and alpine air. |
