Why are there no doner kebaps in the US? |
I used to live in Heidelberg and ate them constantly, why has no one brought them to America (every American I knew who visited me would try in vain to find them stateside afterward). And the gyros they do have here are a depressingly weak subsitute for the doner. |

:D Wrong section. Ask the same in the Europe/Turkey section.
I know that there are good kebap and Turkish cuisine restaurants in New York. But they are real, high class restaurants.
Maybe döner kebap entrepreneurs think hamburger restaurants would give them a hard time. They target the same customers, you know. |

I used to live in Chicago and now live in Bavaria. If I ever move back to the States, I´m going to open a Kebap place and make serious dough.
I don´t know why there are no Doner places, although in Chicago, there is a Turkish restaurant that serves them-although they are very expensive. |
