Why are there so many thumbs down in good even respectful answers to questions about Germany?

People in the English speaking world don't understand Germany and what Germans really are. They all basically stereotype them as Nazis land only recognize German history from 1914-1945, which was only times when they were at war. Germany has sooooo much more history and so much more about it to be stereotyped by such a small time period! People are ignorant and need to learn more about the world international rather then just their own isolated nations like all of my fellow ignorant Americans.

Well the travel Germany section is infested by a big troll from Vermont,be lucky you only got thumbs down normaly he is reporting everybody regardless the answer is good or not just because he can't stand to lose.

Vermont silver medalist
Haven't you ever heared that Germans tend to be very judgemental?
I think that must be the reason.

Alwin E
Be assured I'll never thumb anyone down. There are trolls everywhere on the internet.

It's rather me that gets thumbed down or reported, but recently, I appealed and the appeal was approved.

I don't risk my reputation by doing stupid things. I was sometimes reported for things I said without thinking; that's okay. But I find it cowardish to report someone who has (and always had, with not a minute's exception) his mail contact open for contact. In the village I grew up, you first talked, and then called the sheriff.

Some people seem to think that they can use this as a trolling ground, and I do admit that I sometimes deliberately answer to trolls. There is a way (although I'm not always in the mood to find one) for the most nonsensical, ludicrous questions.

And now a word about Hitler:

He robbed millions of people of their lives. But worse, he robbed generations of Germans of their humor.

Biedronka
Because many of the questions condense thousands of years of history into 1 decade. It is a pity, as the history of Germany and the history of Jews is a long, interesting and rich one.
I also agree with Teuton - some people have this stereotyped idea of Germany, which needs to be attended to - ja:)?

Wow, you know there are 1.5+ Billion Americans, and to say we are all ignorant and only think Germany is filled with Nazi's, is sort of of ignorant statement itself. Most Americans would do absolutely anything to get the opportunity to travel to Germany or any European country. There are many dumb Americans, as i'm sure there are many less intelligent in every culture. Please try to keep an open mind about us, I for one love to meet people from every country I visit, and respect the differences between us. I will be moving to Germany in a few months, and could'nt be more excited!
