Why does the USA pay for Germany's defense?

Hello I am a former Kongo fighter and give you a little personal insight. Actually the US is not paying for Germany's defense because the US can't defend anything anymore. See how long they need to rescue their own hostage in the gulf of aden. Incredible the US needs several warships to hunt down 10 pirates in a pumpboat and if you wanna see how you can defend something look how the French did in the same region yesterday. And if you calling it defense to attack little countries like Granada - I just want to mention Korea, Vietnam, Cuba tbc.

How would the USA do that they couldn't even if they desperately wanted to do it :)

They don't
Where did you read that myth?

Hey, listen: The German army has control over Northern Afghanistan, so WE pay for the US's defense! And when our government was asked to send some reconnaissance jets, they sent them.

We're tied to each other as allies, but there's a problem. It's in the German constitution. The German army was founded as a defense army ONLY, which was the reason why Germany could introduce and still has a general draft. Now that they're acting on foreign soil, the draft actually is illegal, but they're working around it by saying "we don't send draftees abroad without their consent", but you know what a written consent in the army is worth: You get the order, you sign it.

nicoleissofun
What? They're not in Germany to defend it, Germany is a host country, just like many many other countries (Italy, Spain, England...).

My mom (German) said that America occupied them for 50 years and now they're not leaving because Germany is the center of Europe so they have access to everything.

They Don't Germany is doing grate on there own. They dont need the USA.

They USA IS NOT paying for our defense.
We have to pay for our military of course.
But the USA still have some troups in Germany which we
wouldn't need.
You can be happy that we allow you to have your troups in
our country.
Or would you like to have German troups in your country?
