Wie kann Ich mein Deutsch verbessern?

Wie manche Leute hier schon geantwortet haben, ist es am Besten, Du lernst Leute kennen, die mit Dir Deutsch sprechen.
Ich bin Deutsche und mein Englisch war am Anfang auch nicht so gut. Dann bin ich in einen American Square Dance club gegangen. Dort lernte ich innerhalb eines Jahres mehr Englisch als in 5 Jahres zuvor in der Schule! Und ich lernte American English, welches meine Lehrerin gar nicht an mir mochte, denn wir lernten British English in der Schule. AuÃŸerdem hatte ich viele native English speaking pen pals. Das half mir sehr viel.
Jetzt bin ich zwar auch nicht perfekt, aber mein Englisch ist fast fehlerfrei, auch die Ausprache, denn ich spreche American, British und Australian accent. Mein schÃ¶nstes Kompliment bekam ich einmal von einem Australier, der meinte, mein strine (Australian English) sei fast nicht von den locals zu unterscheiden.
Ich spreche seit 40 Jahren Englisch - and I'm still learning....

ich kann zwar deine Aussprache nicht beurteilen, aber deine deutsche Grammatik ist wahrscheinlich bedeutend besser als mein Englisch.

Ich kann dir leider keine Kontaktadressen nennen, ich weiÃŸ nur, dass viele Deutsche in den Staaten leben und arbeiten.

The Goethe Institut is a great resource for learning German grammar and pronunciation. Because the teachers are all native speakers, you get exposed to a great German accent.

German language meetup groups are another option. Listening to german language podcasts (especially Schlaflos in Muenchen) are also great - and the host, Annik Rubens is such a clear speaker!

Try to study or live for a while in Germany yourself.

well, you need German friends or get a german language course to improve your accent...is your mom German? Then you should talk German with her.

So, wie Du Deutsch schreibst, ist das schon ganz hervorragend; das sage ich Dir als Deutscher. Du machst ein paar typisch amerikanische Fehler ("ich war" statt "ich wurde", "zu die" statt "in die", "formale Ausbildung" statt "offizielle") and a few other little things that show that you're not a German. But who cares? I don't. If you want, you can send me mail, and I'll send you newspaper articles in what they call "standard German" you can read and practice on.

You need some German friends, also visit often the German Websites, read some books and chat rooms is good too. I know in US they are selling also German Newspapers.

Dein Deutsch ist wirklich schon gut, deshalb schreibe ich Dir auch so.
Ich war einmal in L.A. in einem deutschen Klub. Gibt es in Deiner Gegend eine Ansiedlung von Deutschen? Und die MÃ¶glichkeit diese zu treffen?
Ich lernte mein Englisch hier (Deutschland) in einem deutsch-amerikanischen Freundschaftsklub. FÃ¼r mich eine einfache MÃ¶glichkeit die Sprache zu lernen, da es im wahrsten Sinne unterhaltend ist. Dazu habe ich noch Englisch gelesen.
Du kannst Ã¼ber das Internet ja auch Radio hÃ¶ren.
Wegen des mÃ¶glichen Akzents mach Dir keine Gedanken, es wird sich nichts Ã¤ndern. FÃ¼r die meisten Menschen ist die Entwicklung des GehÃ¶rs im Kleinkindalter abgeschlossen. Dann hast Du kaum eine Chance ganz akzentfrei zu sprechen. Denke an die Deutschen, die schon Jahrzehnte in den USA leben und teils noch einen starken Akzent haben. Falls Du ein sehr musisches GehÃ¶r hast, kannst Du GlÃ¼ck haben!
Hauptsache ist doch, dass Du fluessig sprechen kannst! Und hier haben wir ja auch unsere Dialekte, die man kaum wegtrainieren kann.

May I add something? For the hispanics settled by lots in the U.S. territory, it is hard not to mix their english with spanish, in an ununderstandable way to speak called "spanglish", lacking rules, and 'though they don't admit this as a true before others, they often don't understand each other's spanglish, so they have to use english to another hispanic. Neither do they understand spanish.

The problems are:
1- uncapability to communicate with their own ethnic;
2- if you only speak one international language, it's O.K., but if you speak two, you might profit more; get the idea?
3- they're unable to read "Don Quijote", and get in full contact with whatever is understandable only in spanish.

I think you speak german already. Just improve it.
