I dont think so. Too many communists here, the party has only changed the name:its now the "PDS". Same people, just another name! |

Well, they tore down the Checkpoint Charlie Memorial in Berlin, so it wouldn't surprise me. A shame, in my opinion. |

Many of the memorials in Berlin that honor the Red Army were built by the Soviets themselves. I know that the Russians made the Germans promise to pay for the upkeep of at least one of these memorials "in perpetuity," so they can't tear it down ever.
A lot of the Communist memorials in Berlin are explicitly anti-fascist/anti-Nazi, so no one wants to get rid of them. |

I seriously doubt it. It is a reminder of the way things were. And it appears that you have NO idea about Germans. Your preceptions of leftist and defeatists are purely ignorant speculation. Germans are proud people with good hearts and a kind word. I have lived here for nearly 20 years and I have never encountered the kind of person that you are referring to. Well, unless it was some hippy and a greenpeace rally, but those hippys are all over the world and not just Germany.
Being American and seeing how outsiders see the way America is right now, I would say that America is looking like "leftists and defeatists" right now with all this BS going on. It makes me sick, really. But see, that is how perception is. You see what is in the news, not what is happening behind the scenes. I know for sure that there are more proud Americans that support the troops but they are not the ones on the television.
So, take your uneducated opinions about Germany and Germans and come back when you've learned a bit more. I love the German people ... for the most part (I hate the Lance Armstrong wanna-be bicycle riders that insist on riding on the street during rush hour when there is a perfectly good bicycle path right next to the road !!!!) |
