Contrary to popular belief, including me until I asked, wooden shoes were popular in the farming areas of southern Germany. Trees were plentiful and a shoemaker could make a pair in short time. They were just "work shoes", nothing more. I learned this from a friend of mine when I asked about all the pictures of concentration camp prisoners wearing wooden shoes.

Perhaps you could do a search of the name on the back and get more info, but YES wooden shoes did come from parts of Geramny also.

Have a dig on this website. It is The Antiques Roadshow. It's a good starting point for contacts.

While wooden shoes generally come from Holland, not Germany, there is a significant common border in the northwest of Germany, and some watery cities. So it is conceivable that the technology traveled to Germany.

I agree that an antiques expert is your best bet.
