"Changes" on the Bahn Schedule?

I am taking a train from Nurnberg to Munchen, and it says there are 2 changes...only it doesn't mention where or how long....does that mean I get off the train and get on another, or do people just get on at 2 stops? Because that's what I've seen before..

Danke Schoen!

Changing trains usually means you have to get off one train and move to another. The "Gleisnummer" (platform number) usually tells you how far it is. If, say, you'll have to change trains from platform #2 to #3, that usually means the trains stand side by side, and you just have to move over. If it's platform #2 to #8, some walking will be involved, but German railway stations have a "Fußgängerunterführung" (an underground tunnel for pedestrians) between platforms.

Usually, the "Fahrplanauskunft" at bahn.de tells you the platform numbers, and how to change trains.

There's a current problem, however: Railway workers have (once again) announced to go on strike for higher wages. That may cause some problems, but Deutsche Bahn has promised to generously refund passengers and allow them to use ANY train that is going into the right direction, even if the ticket is not valid for it.

What kind of train are you taking? An ICE? A Regional Express (RE)? An Interregio (IR)? And where do you see that there are two changes? On the yellow posters hung up on the platform? Or on the website (www.bahn.de)? If you saw it on the yellow posters, than they are, as you suggested, only stops the train makes to let people on and off. If you saw it on the website, than usually it is changes of train that you have to make and you would need to click on a specific button to see the specifics (length of time you have for the change and where you have to go)

Like the other answerer, I can't really believe you would need to change trains twice between Nürnberg and München, though.

Hope that helped.

I can't imagine 2 train changes from nuernberg to muenchen
with a regular train. There's one from hamburg to muenchen.
If you're traveling with deutsche bahn recheck on their web-
site (bahn.de). Changes are listed with times, places and trains.
