1 You need a visa to enter India /It is advisable to get all you vaccinations as there are mosqitoes which spread malaria from the open sewers in some parts

2 Travel/food/rooms are extremely cheap

3 Dependent on which area you go to depends on which religion is the predominent one - Hindu is the most common religion, but in Goa there are a lot of Christians.

3 If you treat the locals, bearing in mind you are a visitor in their country, with the respect you would like to receive. you will find the majority of locals friendly, helpful and more than willing to help you

4 There is a lot of diverse culture and religions resulting in beautiful buildings

5 Goa, until the 60's, was occupied by the Portugese and this has resulted in Engish being their first language, with Portuguese cuisine and buildings, unfortunately many now in a delapidated condition

Yes India has many thieves and beggars - I would like to know of a country which hasnt -

I have been very lucky in the fact that having travelled all over the world for the last 40 year (including 12 visits to India), the only time I have ever had anything stolen was once in Greece, one in Holland and once in Spain. However my friend has been mugged once in London and had her handbag stolen twice.

We have been burgled 6 times - so please don't be put off by the comments made by peope whose only experience of India is their local take away.

As for the snakes - yes there are snakes but I have a phobia about them, and have been incredibly lucky never to have seen one on my travels (other than the snake charmers, but have had plenty of warning that they are there and have managed to avoid seeing them)

1. many states, many races and many cultures
2. many languages, but well-educated people from everywhere of India communicate with different languguage-speakers in English
3. discrimination towards women still exists vastly and it's more severe in less educated families

I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Don't know what 1 facks is,never mind 5.Sorry.

That bloke
i know one which is true but not sure if it falls into your "fack" category;

it is frowned upon but not illeagal for people to squat & do a poo in the middle of town or on a pavement. Someone went there & it apparently happened all the time! Gross!

A Nation of beggars, bums and Vampires and the richest people here are the worst.

its a fact that India is corrupt .its a fact that you can trust no one in India. never never leave valuables in your hotel cos its a fact that someone will likely go to your room when you are away. if it does happen don' t bother telling management its a fact that are probable in on it too.. but then again, if you play it safe, India is a beautiful place to visit, and that's a fact,, i think that's five?
