Any of the hills stations.....Please leave central India out as there is something called as October Heat which is as hot as 35 degrees C and very dry too....
A very good option would be a Hill station called Matheran near Mumbai....its quiet place...with no Vehicles and very very cool and beautiful.....
Kerela is also a good option.

Khujrao Temple if you are a fan of Kama Sutra art.

Plan out ur trip. First land on the Delhi airport and go to Agra and see Taj mahal there. Then go to Uttaranchal and enjoy the mountain there. From there u can go to Mumbai and then to Goa. i don't know about places but i have Indian friends and they told in October its festival time there and they celebration on Diwali and they have a thing called Garba (or somwthing like that) i went to it once its was GREAT and a lot of FUN! I hope you get to enjoy it!

the best place to visit during the month of octobor is many some of them are himalayas(like shimla,darjilling etc.) taj mahal, Paris(France).or the place which you have not visited can be visited by you.
