depends on what type of a holiday you're looking for. if you're looking for cultural touring - best bet is to do a round trip of india. for relaxation and comfort, just make sure you look for the 5 star hotels wherever you go. some good hotels to try are The Taj, Ashoka, Leela Palace, Holiday Inn, Inter Continental...

beautiful must-sees:
1. amritsar - the golden temple
2. agra - the taj mahal
3. rajasthan - the palace on wheels, jaipur, etc.
4. kanya kumari - the temples
5. goa - the beautiful beaches + churches
6. kerala - untouched beauty (again lakes, sea, culture, etc)
7. to get a feel of a metropole, try bangalore - staying at the leela palace

the only problem with the first three is that it'll be extremely hot! but they're places not to be missed for any visitor of india

you should probably make two trips, one for the north (1-3) and one for the south (4-7). Or split this holiday between both! good luck

if you love rains I think Kerala would be a very good option, its a beautiful place and truly God's own country!

coimbatore always has a good pleasing climate all round the year and bangalore also has same type of climate

There are two options. Goa or the British used to spend their summers in the foothills of the Himalayas. Eastern India is also milder. In Southern India, inner Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh experience cooler weather.
