Bangalore, Ooty, Kodaikanal etc, in Southern part of India.

T.S.N.M
all hill stations that fall under the norther region.

milgayaa
East or West India is best. Many hill stations there but there would be heavy croud better you go to south or west coastal area. Meghalya(Shilong) will be little far but best.

There's just so much culture and things to see. Each part of India is completely different. The South has a whole new culture and language and food from the North. The beaches such as Goa are beautiful. Rajasthan has gorgeous forts that are very touristy. I would sugest taking a road trip since it's fun and not that expensive.

It really depends on how long you plan to stay and who you're going with.

And then there's the Taj Mahal, of course. And Delhi which is great for shopping. Then towards Bengal, you could take a tour or camp in the forests.

Have a good trip!

Although it is not at all "India" in terms of culture, people (or anything else, really) I strongly recommend McLeod Ganj (also known as Dharamsala, which is the name for the lower part of the town) in Himachal Pradesh. Like many other towns in the region, it is gorgeous, the weather is very enjoyable, and it has delectable views of the Himalayas. What distinguishes McLeod Ganj, however, is that it is the home of the Tibetan Government (which is in exile from Tibet, which has long been taken over by China) and of the Dalai Lama. The majority of the population is thus made up of Tibetans who have escaped (after arduous, often fatal, journeys) from Tibet and are now refugees in India. The very Buddhist presence gives it a wonderfully peaceful feeling and there are several lovely temples to check out (as well as many fascinating places to learn more about the Tibetan cause and culture). Furthermore, the number of tourists there is just right - enough for there to be a variety of food (in addition to delicious Tibetan food, like momos) and cheap, gorgeous, accommodation but not so many that it loses any of its character. Altogether, it's fabulous - you should go!

there are plenty of them. however, i'll not be able to suggest you anything specifically unless i know the month in which u want to visit. i'll not talk about usual places that everyone recommends -shimla, mussourie etc. these places are teeming with tourist & crowd+ its money making season for everyone of them so u lose out on everything!

U can visit -

almora-uttaranchal. try kalamatia sangam resort as there are not many choices esp in good hotel. its little expensive but even then it not very exp. the place is nice & run more like boutique/ small family run resort/ hotel. check out their website by the same name.

binsar- famous for wildlife sanctury. mahindra is the best place to stay. there are some more options but not too many.

auli- apart from kashmir u can learn skiing here. beautiful place. but don't expect too many facilities. u can try kumaon vikas mandal - govt run accomodation here. though not the best but they are OK.

if u are fit & you might also want to visit gangotri & yamunotri & can also hemkund sahib, which is beautiful place & has religeous importance to sikhs. the nearest place to start & to lodge -joshimath. u can also do valley of flowers nearby.

for all these place u can contact uttranchal tourist development office in your city.

in himachal u can visit -chail- good alternative to shimla, manali-but be prepared for tourist every where. dalhouise - relatively calmer place. there are plenty of hotels here. some of them

chail - chail palace, monal resorts
manali- sagar resort, apple country, ambassador, holiday inn, span resort
dalhousie - dalhouise heights, grand view, mount view

All the hill stations are good to visit in summer.
north india - kashmir is the best, then the himachal - where you have dalhousie, dharmashala, manali-kullu( one of the best places), shimla. then you have lower himalayas in uttaranchal - nainital, almora, kasauni, or massourie
north east is also too good, check out sikkim, ( one of the best places) along with darjeeling
south india offers - munnar again the best in south, you have kodaikanal, ooty, yercaud.

i personally think manali is the best in summer

happy holiday
