how abt Mahabaleshwar..u can get there from pune....is a nice place...no tourists there too...jus check on google if there are any nice hotels there to stay in coz i stayed in a school as i was there for a tourney

Try South India, like Goa, Kerala or Maldives. Also try north east states close to Himalayas.

If u like to let loose and party and booz head to Goa. But Goa is not the only place for beach lovers. There r plenty of beachs in India... u got the Arabian sea, Indian ocean and the Bay of Bengal. Arbian sea.... goa, Kerala... Kochi or Kovalam Or Mahe. Y not Mumbai as well....its gotta beach and its a combo.. city plus beach. Now for Indian Ocean... Kanyakumari. For Bay of Bengal... Chennai, Pondicherry or Mahabalipuram. Now if u want to explore the Cites...Chennai, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Hydrebad, Delhi, Mumbai, Changighar or any major cities. Now if its hill stations Kashmir, Sikkim, Darjeeling, Ooty, Kodai or Kerala... Munnar, Tekkadi. If desserts, go for Rajastan, Gujarat or Jaipur. If Tribal... go for Assam, Orissa or Meghalaya. Now its some adventrue.. go to Loghad.. Pune do treking, Go to Kerala.. spend a night floating on water in a boat house, Go Tamil Nadu explore the temples and ancient architecture, or even to Khajuraho... explore the art of love... Beautiful temples, or simply take a look at Taj Mahal.. Agra, Forts in Jaipur. If its just local life u wanna see go to Lucknow, now if u r looking for spirituality... go to Lucknow as well or around the Ganges. If u want to explore textile.. go to Jaipur, Rajastan, Lucknow etc.
Dont just go with this.... there is more to India. And dont take peoples word on just going to Goa... coz possibly thats the only place they have been to or heard of as a tourist destination. First of ALL wat DO u wanna dO ON ur vacation is important... beach, hills, temples, etc.
Once u have decieded.. see which place exactly u want to visit. And then VOILA.... u r ready for ur trip.

Goa's lovely if you want a european-friendly experience geared for tourists, the further south you go the more relaxed it gets ... depends very much on what you want out of your holiday and what turns you on ... I loved Cochin and Trivandrum, and Kanyakumari right at the southern tip was awe-inspiring (but don't stay there too long because the heat is something else), but then my idea of the ideal holiday is to go exploring and lazing about on the beach for two weeks would bore me stupid

try matheran...i went there in monsoons...it looked amazing...n i thnk it is one the least crowded places too...but u hav to go walking there its a small hill ...no vehicles allowed there beause of pollution, so air too is very good...n just an hour or so from mumbai...a perfect place to relax
