you might need an international drivers license. if you do not do this right the cops might hassle you a little seeing that you are a foreign national, goodluck, driving there is very different than in america... |

yes you can if you are a visitor and not a resident (>3m stay I think) BUT I would think twice as it is a different world of traffic and I always rent a car and driver togetyher - it is quite cheap there and much much safer.... |

My friend drove in India with his French Drivers license and was stopped by police for a routine check and arrested. Apparently you must have an international drivers license. Thats the only one valid in India. Your countries driving license will not do. |

Yes, hope you know its 'Keep Left' in India. |

you must have a valid{unexpired}driving license issued anywhere in india to drive a car in hyderabad.Your knowing rules of the road wont help.Same requirement for driving a scooter or motorcycle in Hyderabad.Possessing an American driving license wont help. There is no upper age limit for driving a vehicle in hyderabad/india. |

No. you have to have a license issued by the government of India. I have driven in several countries as a military lea son with the local police force and they all required I have a local license. |

You should get a International Driving Permit...you should be able to get rented cars but don't expect to find one at every corner....They do drive on the left side of the road as in the UK. |

No you can't drive any vehicle be it a four wheeler or a two wheeler anywhere in India even if u hold an American drivers' license unless you get an IDP (Internation Driving Permit) from your country which would be valid for upto 1 year. U better contact ur road transport officer or the embassy in US for more details on the issuing of IDP. Hope this helps. |

I think so.. India is carrying like everything international, i think you'll be fine, just make sure you ask your embassy for more details |

As far as I am aware, you can drive there with your U.S license or an International license for a LIMITED period of time. |

im not really sure....but i know it might be because its very difficult to drive when the side of the road ur driving on is completely different. India drivers drive on the left-hand side. I know when someone came from india to canada..they had to get a new driver's lisence. You probably can't drive legally. |
