Hi, UK mobile phone companies generally have a partner network in other countries. I would imagine that Indian providers would have partners in the UK. It is best to check the UK company's website for more information on coverage.

Meant to say, sending a text from the UK will normally cost the same as any other text. However if the person receiving it is in another country, they will normally be charged for receiving it as well.

Lilly
Yes. The service provider charges for this.

Generally the answer is Yes. However if you wish to text or make a call you are supposed to inform your provider. I did, I spoke to orange and they said "no problem, your phone account will be fine overseas". It isn't. SIM cards are cheap in india as are calls and texts. Buy one out there and text or better still email your friends your new number. Internationoal code 091

I have no idea if your UK provider has International roaming facility in India. My suggestion is to ask your service provider about these details than ask us here in India.

You can get a local Indian SIM card without contract even before you leave UK, to avoid expensive International Roaming. Try RebelFone:
