Cost of living in goa?

intend to settle down ingoa.we are a family of four adults.how much do you think will be enough per mounth to live the life of upper middle class including the rent of a flat with a sea view.

Ohoooo your going to have a beautiful time!

The price will varey dependant on if you are local (as in Indian) or a foreigner.
For rental, as a local you will be paying anything from 1000 to 5000 rupees per month.
As a foreigner you will be looking at 3000 to 10,000 rupees per month.
Hard to determine how much you would spend on food for I don't know if you eat out, or cook at home and what your taste buds consist of!
But I would recommend getting a scooter or a car as well, which will cost you from 500 to 3000 rupies per month.

A cheap and fantastic life style can be gained in Goa...have a fab time!!

FYI: $1 USD = approx 45 rupees

My husband and I went to Goa (Calengute) in peak season and spent a total of £300 spending money between us for a 14 night holiday. This was taxis and two meals out per day each, and bringing home a few cheap pressies. You get 70 RP to £1.00
I would get "Lonely planet - guide to Goa) Available from Amazon, and read it. It tells you all the cheap places to stay what you should be paying etc. It will be a life saver. You also have to barter well there.

if you want a sea view, take the very top end of these quotes,and you may look for some time. whilst you are looking you can rent nearby. i have just returned from there and was renting a 2 bed house in a nice jungly bit for 4000 rps per month. goa is changing a lot and this year i was surprised to find some things the same price (or more!) as england, especially the western goodies and better restaurants. with the rent split 4 ways i would say about £250-300 per month each.
