I think 153 km should be right. Take the Dindigul road (via Karumandapam). On the way to Dindigul the road will take a diversion to Palani. You need not get into Dindigul city which is clumsy

If you go from Palani, than pass through Cattrappatt, then to Vendasadur, then to Manaparai, the to Tiruchchirappalli, Then, Just follow to Trichy... It's about 153 km!
