The best and popular route between Kochi & Nainital is via Delhi. Kochi-Delhi by Rajdhani Express measures 2943 kilometers and Nainital is further down about 320 kilometers vis rail / road. The total surface distance by rail /road comes to 3263 kilometers.

Kochi is in very south & Nanital is in North my guess is approx. 2500 to 3000 km, i.e. if traveling via train it'll take approx 2 days & flight may be quite fast.
