Do I need a Visa to travel in India?

Going to southern India, I've been told that I need one and that I don't need one. Which is the right answer?

yes you need to apply for a visa. If you are in the us there is a website for the indian emabassy. Fill out the application and you have to send your passport to them in New York. They paste it inside your passport and send it back takes like three weeks and it cost like 70.00

Everyone other then citizens of nepal need a visa even citizens of nepal need some kind of ID.

You need a Visa, but India does has some tie up with its nebhouing country called Nepal. Nepal citizens are not required to have Indian Visa to visit india. Please check with Indian Ambessy if India has a similar tie up with your country too. Chances are very unlikely.

with all due respect you need a visa to enter india. it necessary for you to have a visa before you enter india. only sujects of nepal can move in india freely without having to worry for a visa.rest everyone needs a visa to travle to india. if you wish i could help you locate the nearest indian mission or consulate where you can apply for your visa. again i would liek to tell you no matter who tell you what you need to have a visa absolutely to enter india.i travel often abraod and hence i know the rules and regulations .
