Hi Ross >
I am fully jabbed up, and take my once a month malaria tablets, but in Goa, you are fairly safe, but having a "top-up" booster thing for yellow fever & typhoid is a good notion., especially if you wander inland a bit.
Take your medical card to show at the airport, though.
Lovely place otherwise, and enjoy it and the local folks.
All good fun. Love it, & no health probs. apart from too much beer on the beaches.
I don't think that you can get a jab against that !

i'm going to kerala (south india) in afew weeks and you need hep A, typhoid, polio, tetanus and diptheria. Plus even though the area is low risk level for malaria you need to also take tablets. They are either daily or weekly. But have to be taken one week prior to going, throughout ur trip and then a month when you come back.
Enjoy your trip! |

Yup! Better safe than sorry.
1.need malaria tabs to start 1 week prior to leaving
2.Need hep A booster
3.Check with your local doc, if you need any of your other vacs updated(tetanus, hep B, polio, etc)
4.Go to www.cdc.gov, or www.healthyholiday.com and click on the travel section where you can look up the latest vaccine requirements
Enjoy! |

malaria of course, start taking the tablets one week before your arrival to India and stop one week after your departure. Yellow fever is not a must, except if you are
transiting cities where it is required.I would make the injection
anyway, because if it is required and you don't have the certificate there is a quarantine of many days. |

See a doctor and he will tell you yes you need hepA, Hep B, malaria tablets......... He tells you that because of guidance from teh government. The government guidance offers advice which will never leave them exposed to litigation and is often over the top. I have been to India about 4 times, I have taken nothing for the past three times and have been in Goa and some larger cities. On my first trip I felt a little ill, and asked what anti malaria tablets other people where taking, no-one I met was taking any. I stopped taking them travelled in Jaipir, Jaiselmere, Cochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Amritsa and many other places and was not ill once. Good luck whatever you chose to do |

I don't think you need to take injection. However you carry
with you moskito repellent like "odomos" or "keep away
moskito" or if you believe in AYURVEDIC MEDICINE,you
can keep with you 'Nim Oil' which you can massage on open parts of body before you go to bed. |

Malaria tablets, definitely. If you go to link below it is very clear on what is recommended for India. What I don't know, but your surgery nurse will, or NHS Direct or MASTA, is whether last year's injections are still valid. Have a nice time. |

Combined Hepatitis A and Typhoid, Diptheria/Tetanus and Polio booster. I know I went to Goa earlier this year. You should have these done at least a month before you go. If I were you I'd make an appointment with your nurse a.s.a.p. |

I've been to India 3 times (Mumbai,Goa,Rajkot and other cities) and i never took any kind of injection or medication.
Just don't drink tap water and be careful with dairy products specially milk and yogurt. |

You need a Primary injection for Hepatitis A - this lasts one year. Your booster will then last 20 years.
You need an injection for Typhoid - this lasts 3 years
You need an injection for Diptheria/Tetanus - this lasts 10 years as does Polio.
As far as Malaria is concerned - best be safe than sorry. You can get Malarone tablets that don't have any after effects. You need to take one 24 hours before your trip, one each day that you are out there and one each day for a week afterwards. These can be expensive though. Therefore you could always smear Marmite all over your body for the duration of your trip |

Do you mean vaccination?. As per my observation no need, to visit India. Contact the Indian Embassy in your country of residence for better guidance. |
