Yes - and the rest.

Goa is often promoted as some remote paradise island, but it's not, it's part of India.

As such, the behind-the-scenes activities are typically Indian.

There is Malaria, and many food and waterborne diseases.

You should visit your Travel clinic, who will advise what else you need ( Hepatitis A; Typhoid; Hepatitis B; Polio; Diptheria/Tetanus).

Frankly, when you go behind the glossy pictures, and see what happens in the kitchens, you'll be disgusted, moreso for the room service food, often prepared in some dirty hovel when the kitchens are closed.

Remember it is not Europe/USA, from the top to the bottom (Hotel owners to cleaning staff), they are trying to make money out of as little as possible, and without effective regulation, anything goes.

Yes you do and don`t stop taking them as soon as you get home you must finish the course.

karzendee
yes that's unless you want to risk being ill for the rest of your life as once you contract malaria it never goes away you always have it and it can be very debilitating

Yes you need to take anti-malarial medication before traveling to Goa or anywhere else in India.
It depends on whether you have been exposed to the disease before.
Where are you coming from?

I don't think so.....

I will not say that there are no mosquitoes at all but it is not a mosquito ridden place as many may have you believe.

There are many foreign tourists who come here with anti-malarial tablets and then stop taking them as some of them land up with a side effect of a "deli-belly" after taking them.

Most of the regular repeat guests don't bother at all.

If you are worried you can carry some mosquito repellant lotion with you which you may use at dusk.

Worried about unhygienic places to stay?.... then check out a place in clean natural surroundings!

Take care.

Goa was a Portugal clony. You won't find malaria mosquitoes in panaji/ mapsa/ madgaon/ vasco or anywhere.
