Well, to be honest, I am an Indian and have travelled to India 15 times. The best way not to get lost in India is: 1.) decide where you would like to go, 2.) once there get to know the area, 3.) ask taxi or rickshaw driver, generally they have the best idea of how to get around, 4.) ride a rickshaw everywhere you go, and 5.) learn the national language because not very many people in India are fluent in English, by the way the national language is Hindi.
