I don't like India - I love it! I've only been 5 times, but the last time stayed for 3 months. My wife is from New Delhi, and her parents live there, so most of our time has been there.

I have visited cities and tourist sites in Delhi, Gujrat, Panjab, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. I think I enjoyed Delhi, Jaisalmer, Pune, Pushkar, Rishikesh, and Musoorie the most, as well as the Thaar Desert, and the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. I tell my wife that I could live in Musoorie, as it is not terribly hot there in the summer.

I would like to stay for a longer time and see the south and east. I am very interested in the wide variety of cultures and foods, and I find the people pleasant and easy to get along with (mostly). I really like the closeness of family and friends. What I can do without is the violence between Hindus and Moslems, being overcharged by the cab drivers (though I know how to manage this), and of course the large amounts of trash.

I can't wait to go back again. I have about 5 years left on my visa, and have considered the PIO (Person of Indian Origin) scheme, though I'm not sure if it's still available, or if they've raised the fees.

Yeah its really an interesting place, I have been to Amritsar, Kolkata, and New Delhi. It's really a different way of live for me as I was born and raised in the United States. (Parents are Indian).

How can you say it smells? Don't be that narrowminded, its just a different experience. One that should be respected and admired.

In short, India is a great place...definetly try and visit when you can.
