Yes! Most of the answers you are receiving are from people who have not been keeping up with the changes in the world, and a bit ignorant on the subject. ('ignorant' meaning uneducated not stupid, there is a difference)
While India is still developing, they are producing some very well educated people and becoming organized. They have already affected the I.T. and customer service job market in the U.S.
Their main religion is Hindu, but that has no affect on their ability to do business. One does not have to eat beef to be intelligent.
Yes, they still have a lot of poverty, on the other hand so do we. (we being U.S.)
They are the only country that can give Hollywood a run for the money. While most Americans aren't exposed to many of their movies, the are very popular in other parts of the world.
India is a sleeper, it's up and coming and the average person doesn't even see it. |

India is well on its way to becoming a global superpower. Top 10, ha! Within a decade or two, it'll be TOP 5! I think the Group of 4 (Japan, India, Brazil and Germany) will successfully get their induction to the UNSC soon. |

there is a good possibility considering the volume of software development that gets outsourced by western companies.
It's still too early to tell, but if India specialises in software and services, and its politicians are clever enough to promote the good of their country before their personal interest, then it has a very good chance to become a great economic power in the next 15-30 years. |

Yes.. and no...
Yes - India is developing rapidly (May not be as rapid as China at present). It can grow to the third biggest country by 2050 in terms of GDP. It is the biggest democracy in the world. In Space & technology it is just touching the top 10 countries in the world and in 10 years time it will be in top 5 countries.
Like wise in Services sector it will break into the top 5 countries with in 20 to 30 years.
Manufacturing sector - May / may not break into top 10 in this century.
If you look from the perspective of overall qualities India will definitly there in top 10 within 20 years.
But unfortunatly India wwill continue to have the highest number of people below poverty line for the next 50 years or so..
The people, who runs the country and those who are connected with the country require to do some hard work to get rid of the poverty. But I doubt it may not happen in the near future as most of the people in the world are selfish.
If you hapens to visit India, you will fall inlove with the country despite the shortcommings. |
