India is an amazing place to visit people there are really friendly...they might stare but that's normal any place you go as a tourist lol but just be nice and come with a open mind and they welcome you with open arms...no prejudices which = no worries lol

there are many tourist/people living in India in the bigger cities but in the smaller one and in the villages there only a few (so it may be weird to you a first)... when I went to Ahmadabad, India (which is a pretty large city but not as big a Mumbai) for a month I only saw three tourist in the whole trip...not including me lol but I had a blast it was the best experience ...r u going there? If not you should!

But all you need to really know about is the water get bottled or boil tap water

and when you are buying things form vender's don't be afraid to make deals and say no and walk away because if you do that they will try to reason with you (because they know your a not form there and they will give you way HIGH prices!) plus you can go the a different place and buy the same thing for a different price too

Also if your a girl look at the clothing stores the clothes there is soooo BEAUTIFUL! ....even if youâ€™re not going to buy... (If your not) then remember don't be afraid to say no because Indian are HARD pushy business people trying to sell!!

Am sure you can get the $ equivalent of a ruppe anywhere.If you want to know the value in terms of cost of living 1$ would roughly equal 10 Rupees if you want to live on the lower end of the standard of living spectrum and the dollar would be equivalent to about 25 rupees if you want be a little more upscale.In other words 10 rupees would buy you the same thing that you can buy with 1$ in the US.

Currently an american dollar is about 47 rupees. It keeps fluctuating. It was about 44-45 rupees till a few months ago and there is a possibility that it might increase.

Americans and people from other countries are most welcome to India. There are a large number of tourists that keep coming to India. There are no prejudices as such and you will not have any problems and you will surely be able to manage the things without much difficulty.
