Does my wife require an authorisation from me to travel abroad with my child when I am not travelling along?
I think in the US if only one parent is travelling, they need to get the authorisation from the other parent to take the child out. Is that requried in the UK. My wife will be travelling to India on a short visit with our baby and I am not going along....
Under normal circumstances, if the child appears on your wife's passport, then no. If not, the child will need seperate travel documents which may require your authorization to acquire.

If you have no objection to the trip maybe you should give written authorisation just to be on the safe side

I'm pretty sure she might. when she travels in the country then no but if overseas then yes.... The best thing to do is ring the airline to make sure so there are no hidden surprises and she can't leave...
