Sweetie, I'll tell you from experience. I've had MANY relationships in my days of the dating scene. It is much better for you to break up now, then to get married or live together for a number of years and get dumped.

I don't have a clue as to how long you've been together, but if she needs that freedom, then give it to her. She needs to find out and make certain she can do things on her own. I'm sure she is not without feelings for you; however, I went through the same issues, but I was married...twice. The first time I divorced, I wanted my freedom, only to get married on the rebound. The second marriage just barely lasted 5 years, when he started cheating on me with women at work.

There is much more to a relationship than 50/50. For anything to have a future, especially in a personal relationship, it must be 100 percent on both sides or it either doesn't work, or the road is so rocky, you can hardly stand the bumps, twists and turns.

If you are meant to be together, she'll return. If not, I'm sure God will bring you someone who will make you jump for joy. Have faith and be patient. Get involved with other friends of yours, do things that you would like to do, be creative and write down your thoughts. You just never know; you may be able to turn those thoughts into a book of poetry. Sometimes hurt and pain and the darkness that settles around us seems as though it will never go away. Then, suddenly, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and our rewards are so great. Poetry is a very good outlet for the heart that is hurt. I know, I've been there and done that. I hate to say this man but, it just isn't possible to be friends at this point. It's like being the boss and getting demoted to janitor. I have experienced this also and the best advice I can give is to put as much distance between the two of you as possible. I mean drop off her radar completely.....girls always want what they can't have.

She needs to be independent from you. Give her her freedom then. Like that old saying goes, If you love someone, set them free, if they come back to you they're yours, if they don't they never were. Why would you want to be around someone that doesn't want to be around you? She definitely has not matured enough. Be strong, let her go, don't become her "friend" that she can manipulate, because I'm telling you she will.

Sometimes, but not always. Probably the best thing to do if you two break it off is keep your distance, take time to deal with your heartbreak, use the time you would have normally spent with her and focus on other interests and spend time with your other friends.

There's no way you can keep her, regardless. So let go. Remember that there is not one "perfect" person for you, but thousands of girls who you'd be compatible with. Just be yourself, hang out with your other friends, keep an eye out for other girls who have been waiting for you to come back "on the market."

Don't put any labels on your relationship with your ex. Be kind and courteous to all the women you know, and let things evolve.
