I would say the best place is Hyderabad as i have been there and the kids can see the Salarjung museum, Amusement parks, and the Golkunda fort. This is extremely fun plan to do. You will apreciate it and your children will love it. I Guarantee.

Best option - Hyderabad
It is easier to take the Intercity Express to bangalore and one of the fast trains to Chennai. Expect delays in flight esp the low cost ones. For B'lore & Chennai train is a better mode |

I would suggest Kovalam near Trivandrum. It is a 1.5 hour Air journey from Coimbatore.
