Rachel.....the monsoon starts in June in that part of India. IO lived there for a number of years. It gets very humid and you will be in and out of the shower about five times in one day...you will probably (not necessarily) get itchy....the roads get messy....the clothes smell musty....you can get bad tummies at this time of the year. Honestly> Wait till the monsoon is over and go between November and March and it will be like English summer and you will love it. Goa is full of lakes (?) not sure if thats the right word for it. You can hire a taxi for the whole day for a reasonable amount...the fare from the airport is expensive (I think about Rs.600)... Goan food is very good....Goan sausages .and seafood absolutely out of this world ....prices are very reasonable go make sure that the thread is taken out of the prawns or you will have a really bad tummy. Drink only Bisereli (bottled) water or hot drinks where water is boiled.
Salads are dangerous if not cleaned properly at this time of the year. There are hippie type markets....transport is not very good unless you can hire a car or a bike. Taj Village Hotel is super but is expesnive People are friendly but be careful you arent taken for a ride and learn how to bargain.
It is totally the wrong time of the year to go because in the North it will be very hot and humid and you will not be able to take that heat....about 32 in Bombay (Mumbai) maybe 34 in Goa and about 42 in north India or even higher. |India is a place you either love or hate but its very interesting and there are loads of foreigners there now whereas when I lived there I was the only one for miles around. Hope this helps. |

I'll do me very best to make it as plesent as I can for you.
1.You will be made up it's off season not as crazy and crouded. So it's off season price's.
2.The sea will be realy rough, but you still can go to the beach,no beach shak's or beach party's then.
3.Food is great all the time.
4.It's not red hot and stickey in the monsoon's you don't need five shower's in a day.
5.The north of Goa is not as lively as you hear about it,oh yes there are club's that do have a night life it all depends who's thinking of livening the place up.
6.15 of augest is always a great day for big party's it's the independence day ball.
I would have been able to help you more if I knew where you were stay all I know I live in the posh part of goa in the south on the cavelossim beach- Mobor beach near the leela palce goa.
-The Fishermen's wauf-it's on the river sal it's a part of the holiday inn goa great view and very good food.
-the palm grove cavelossim village it's got very good food in there to the phone number to make your order for a room to say at is 0091-832-2871424.ask for Laurence.
-the fiplees in Benaulim is an all week good place to hang out of the evening's.good food and entertainment all week long. the phone number is 0091-832-2770123/2772333.
it's near mary hall on the four road's on your way to colva beach.
-colva beach is got a lot of back packer's off season tourest from all over the world come to colva beach.-kenturkey and mickey's and william's hotel are good for the food.
All you need to do is have your water proof's handy cause you never know when it will pour down.
I live hope skip and jump from the palm grove in cavelossim.
There is load's you can do in the rain's also. It's different.
If you need to know more your get in touch with me and i will help you.good luck. |

Goa in July/August is at the time of Monsoons. It is sultry and rains often. You may not be able to enjoy the sun too often. That said, there is an excellent Monsoon charm in Goa. The fields are lush green and room tariff is low and crowds are sparse. You can enjoy during Monsoons. You can get more details here http://goatourism.org/ and for budget acco with reviews refer http://www.travelpaisa.com/component/option,com_mtree/task,listcats/Itemid,30/cat_id,42/
It might be better to stay in a hotel than in beach cottages if you are visiting in July/August |
