It depends what you like to do. It would be very easy to spend a week just enjoying the relaxed beach life and sampling some great seafood. However if you wish to venture further afield there are plenty of options. You will be near the capital of Goa - Panjim - a pleasant small city with interesting Portuguese architecture, you can also take a trip to Old Goa to look at all the old churches. There is the famous Wednesday flea market at Anjuna but I would recommend Ingo's Saturday night market in Arpora (check it is onfirst though). Both sell Indian handicrafts - bags, sarongs, jewellry, clothing, rugs etc. etc. but the night market is cooler, considerably less hassle and has better quality stuff. There is a casino boat in Panjim which is a great fun all inclusive night out. Nature walks can be good, but don't go in the heat of the day. there's plenty of bird watching to be done. Check at your hotel/guesthouse, they should be able to recommend a guide or tour.
Have a lovely time whatever you do.

Also, the river cruise with it's local atmosphere , and goan music is great! Try their Fenny...if u like to tipple...smells a bit but lots a folk like it....great cashews to be bought there too and great churches to visit....
