Your own state Kerala, has the best to offer, without having to waste much time in travel. Im sure you are already aware of all the popular destinations.

Go to Periyar Sanctuary, now is the best time for wildlife sightings and it is quite pleasant at 800m AMSL.. Chellarkoil - very close to Kumily, is a very pleasant spice plantation area which is not much visited by tourists.

Go to Thattekad sanctuary near Kothamangalam, now is a good time to see the elusive Ceylon Frogmouths. Again, not many visitors here.

Go to Nelliampathy another not so frequented small hill station.

Actually, in Kerala you can go to any small place outside the urban areas and enjoy the lush greenery and peaceful surroundings. Plus, the food is always good!
