It can be rainy and feel very cold. I always arrive in Delhi by the middle of January and sometimes if its still snowing up north it can be very cold...it rains. Part of the problem, a big part is that Delhi is not really equipped for cold weather (remember it can get to 48 C in MAY). Most all the construction is masonry, no one, but the outrageously wealthy have heat in their homes.

If you are going to Delhi in their winter you can do one thing. The smaller hotels where I stay defiantly don't have heating (I won't pay to stay in a grand hotel when i can get a great room for $7 US a night). Go to the market and buy one or to small hot plates (used for putting a small pot on, etc)..take them to your room (carry them in a bag). The hotels are very conscience of electric bills....plug them in your room. You can also ask for blankets--most hotels will have them. But those little hot plate really pump out heat. If your paranoid about fire unplug them when you go to sleep. Get a nice Pancho, like a wool pancho (many Indian wear these in winter and a good hat. And try to stay dry.

Good luck..I assume you asked the question because you are going to Delhi in winter. Enjoy!

it can be very chilly here in delhi during winters.. this time the temperature dropped to 0.2 degree celsius.. this was due to the snow fall in the hilly areas of northern india and the westerlies that blow over from the west of India and is a cause of rain..

Vivs
it touched close to 0 degrees in the winter of 2005 - 2006 in delhi ... for the first time in the last 19 years that i've been here, i saw some snow in delhi ... on an average though, delhi hits 4 - 5 degrees celsius as the lowest temp during a season.

manuawal
