I'm traveling there in June for three months. I don't have a very extensive budget and am aware that I'm going to be roughing it in some pretty wet conditions. I was wondering if anyone else had done something similar and had any tips? Also, if anyone can give me some good places to spot wildlife it would be a bonus as I'm going there to photograph as much as possible.
I've been to India several times and always in the monsoon season.
If you go up north, the monsoon is weak.
In Ladak, basically there is no monsoon.
India is fully enjoyable even in the monsoon season.

june to september most part of south, west and north india will be raining. the north picks up in july while south and west starts in june.the safest place for you to be in india is in rajsthan where there is very little rain as being a desert area. but rajsthan is the tourist attraction because of historic monuments like palaces and forts in udaipur and jaipur and jodhpur. you can enjoy the wildlife at ranthambhor wildlife sancturay which is very famous and bharatpur bird sanctuary both are in rajsthan.you can have a trip to mount abu a hill station with historic temples. no other part of india will be safe in monsoon
