My wife and I were there in October for our honeymoon and had a blast! Talked to a lot of people about it and it is still there. People don't marry outside their caste but interact with other castes. We had long talks with people in a very rural area of Madayar Pradish (sp?). In the more urban areas of Delhi, Mumbai and Rajahastan it could be a little different. Absolutely incredible country! |

its depend on u. should be u have also have cast system in ur contery same is here nothing is different. like this u have prist in ur cast we have also. some bigger cast some middle some little nothing is special , BUT this time no body worry about cast u can get marriege by ur self. if like any body also she/he. then ca get marry .

Well, the untouchables still have to pick trash up and everyone has to marry within their own caste, the untouchables that pick trash up are not paid,but do recieve donations from time to time, they also receive beatings and harrasement from the police |

Officially outlawed, but there is affirmative action to give opportunites to members of lower castes. There is still discrimination, mind you, and unkind jokes about lower-case people being stupid and lazy and so on. |

very much alive althought the government is trying to erdicate this so call 'ancient' pratice, and they're setting aside certain quota for jobs in the civil service, it's an uphill task, but a step in the right direction |

This is the only thing which is used only for personal profit otherwise it is nothing. All are human beings and no one is big or small, rich or poor, upper or lower. So if you think that society will be against you if you do something against your caste. I don't think so because society is created by us. We are also the part of society. If we will not put any type of objection for others then they don't have any right to interrupt in your life. So live life as you wish without hurting anyone. Life is limited so enjoy it and don't think anything what other people think about yourself. Make your own lifestyle and be happy. |
