Very nice! Been there 3 times already. People are friendly and you don't really feel out of place.
While there, you can visit Auroville and some other nearby areas.

The french side of Pondicherry is beautiful with beaches and friendly people . Some interesting shopping & music too. Main Pondicherry can be crowded depending on which time of the year you visiting.
