Psychiatrists make good money. The people who go to them are mentally and emotionally unstable. They need help. Their loved ones go to any extent to get them cured and keep them that way, hence they end up paying exorbitant consultation charges.
A distant schizophrenic relative of mine is taken to a psychiatrist every 2 months. His parents pay the psychiatrist Rs 1500 per visit. The medicines are paid for separately.

I happen to met few of them. Only one seems to earn good figure - may be Rs 80 to 100 thousand per month. But all others are around Rs. 20 to 50 thousands only.

I think It depends on the city where a psychiatrists is doing practice !!! If he/she going to practice in a metro the he/she can earn a lot ! But, We Indians are to smart we don't need psychiatrists so, think to go to America ;). Where you find work culture there would be more problems and where are more problems there are more chances to earn as a psychiatrists.....
