both the places you are visiting are off season on the time of the year you are visiting them cause of the rainy season coming into effect. Both are places of worship and like any trip planning you need to assess what your inherent skill sets are to be comfortable in a new place. Eg. good with maps, spending money, internet travel info, friends in local areas, knowledge of local language HINDI and like any other new townie keep yourself open to learn from your surroundings and build upon your experiences.

Sadly I must concur with Gracesuf.
I travel alone a fair bit and in some slightly tricky places at times, but then I'm male, 183cms & 85kilos of gym work. But even then I am always aware of my personal safety - stay in well lit areas, do not go to out of the way places with strangers, etc
For the ladies it is always a risk, but a risk that can be minimised by sensible behaviour.

My personal opinion is that a young girl should not travel alone anywhere on the planet. If you mean just take transportation there and then meet a friend or stay with a family, that is no problem-- but if you are going to be alone in the country for a period of time and no support system....... I just do not think that is a good idea. I travel alone to Nepal several times a year and I have also made trips to India, Viet name, Cambodia, Laos--- but in each case, I have folks from that country who meet me and are readily available in I need anything.
