If u had the PNR number then it is not that tough. U need to have a FIR registered in local police station. Produce it in reservation counter and ask for a duplicate copy. U will get it. If u dont have PNR number then it is very tough case. Only hope is to get hold of the dude who is at reservation counter but then too it will be tough as each day there are many reservations done. When reservation chart is prepared then list is decleared of all wait list ppls too there U can get the PNR number. Better try to get PNR number from source station as train starts there and first chart is prepared there. U will get time to get a duplicate ticket if time span is long. Best of luck for journey.

If PNR is not known, write an application to the Station Master (boarding station) and get his signature. Then go to any reservation window. Tell him the date of journey, class, name of passengers, etc. You will come to know about the ticket details including the PNR number. Fill it in the same application form. Lodge an FIR with the Railway Police which should be on the station itself. Then give this application (copy of FIR) to the reservation window. You will be issued a new ticket and it will cost you 25% of the full amount. My experience is that whole exercise will take 1-2 hours.

yes provided u have the PNR number, which is most unlikely that u have it. My idea would be to go to the reservation counter when its not too crowded and the dude across the window has time for you , then i am sure he can sort it out for you

You can lodge an FIR with the police to say it is lost and then lodge a claim with the railway but it is a lengghy process worth getting into only if the amount involved is really big.

No claim for refunds is entertained by Indian Railways in case of lost or misplaced tickets. If a ticket is confirmed/RAC, the rly may permit the travel on same reservation on payment of charges fixed from time to time.

Frankly speaking, if the amount is a small amount forget it, it's not worth the headache and time to recover it. If its substantially large then get your gear ready to start running around.

The procedure is to file an FIR. Then you may go to the any railway reservation counter and produce an ID saying that your mom is the bonafide passenger. Railway will issue you a duplicate ticket on payment of 25% of the fare.

Like some others here are saying, go to the place where you bought the ticket(s) from, giving the proper details, and so on, then starting from there.
